Victorian Mother Of Pearl And Coromandel Vaniety /Sewing Box.
A stunning example of a Victorian vaniety/sewing box dating back to c.1860. The vaniety box has a beautiful mother of pearl inlaid design to the top and front with the initials “MAM” inlaid to the top. The box is complete with a working lock and tasselled key.
Open the box to reveal the beautiful original green velvet interior with a lidded section to keep vaniety or sewing implements safe. It has four cut glass bottles and a few sewing and vanity tools, two brass topped inkwells and two lidded jars. Lift the tray to reveal a leather compartment to the underneath.There is a stationary slip behind the green velvet to the back of the inside lid.
