Victorian Tunbridge Ware & Walnut Sewing Box.
A striking example of a walnut sewing box dating back to c.1870. Featuring beautiful decorative inlaid Tunbridge Ware bands with wonderful colours running down the centre and front with a hexagonal Tunbridge inlaid top and key escutcheon with mother of pearl centres.
The box has a working lock and tasselled key.
Open the box to reveal the original fitted sewing tray and the original red crushed silk to the back of the inside lid. The rest of the interior has been relined with a red marble paper that matches beautifully.
A beautiful piece of walnut.
