Victorian Burr Cedar Jewellery/ Sewing Box Featuring The Original Tray.
A exceptional and beautifully decorative Victorian Jewellery box in Burr Cedar with stunning inlay. The Jewellery box dates back to c.1870, it features a stunning inlaid design to the top and front in mother or pearl, ebony , nickel silver, abalone and bone with a decorative brass plate to the centre.
It has a nickel silver key escutcheon with a fully working lock and tasselled key.
Open the box to reveal the original sewing/jewellery tray with several sections that were used for Cotten reels, four original velvet pin cushions and a lidded compartment to the centre. The back of the indies lid has it’s original satin pink and blue interior and a mirror to the centre. Remove the tray to reveal a relined interior and the perfect space for jewellery.
Superb quality and condition and a stunning piece of burr cedar throughout the box measuring 24 x 19 and stands 13cm high.
